Let’s Go Buy a Bike!

Hello everyone.

Exercise Bike
Exercise Bike

My health is not the best, and some medications I am currently taking for my mental health issues are not helping. To that end I need to lose weight and exercise. Therefore, I need to buy an exercise tool.

My doctor, and mother (separately) suggested a recumbent exercise bike, like this one. This bike is available on Amazon.com for $157.

I’m NOT asking for money.

I am having a bake sale instead to help raise money for this life necessity which I am otherwise unable to afford. I have been shooting LEGO Portraits for a while now. I am offering Lego Portraits for sale. They are perfect for that eclectic piece of art for the living room or hall. They are great for a kid’s room, or an office. They work fantastically in a man cave or crafting room. I’ve got a portrait for anyone and any space. Fun is the key, creativity is the aim.

I am offering one 8×10 for $12.
I am offering one 5×7 for $5.
I am offering one 4×6 for $3.

I am offering 10 random collection of 5 4×6’s for $10.

I have two autographed Lego Portraits (20 pages) preview photo books for $20 ea.

I have one other autographed book of Instagram photos for $15.

If I sold all of the above, 1 each, I would have $105.

Shipping is included in all the prices.

I also am offering commission pieces. You tell me what you want to see and I shoot it. Say you have a thing for drummers or auto mechanics. I will shoot you a custom Lego Drummer Portrait or Lego Auto Mechanic Portrait. These would go for $25 and would include a 4×6, an 8×10, and a digital download.

Please, share and tell your friends. Help me raise what I need to live a healthy life.

Check out the existing Lego Portraits here. Contact me via email at myself AT philipjoel DOT com.

Thank you for your help.

I wish

I saw the sun,
however brief;
it was fun.
I wish the day
‘d turn a new leaf,
burn th’ clouds away,
revealing blue, blue
sky, bid grey adieu.

I actually “tweeted” this poem on my twitter (@PhilRedbeard). I like that I am keeping to consistent rhyme schemes these days, as when I was a kid, or even in college, rhyming was inexplicably hard to do. (For those interested, but who can’t be bothered: ABACBCDD). The poem is also precisely 140 characters (including line breaks) exactly the twitter tweet limit. I feel very proud of myself right now.

Also, its true: I hate the grey days of Wisconsin winter and long for a bit of sun and blue skies.

It Was Horrible!! (Updated)

Hello friends

I blogged awhile ago about the online video sensation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog. Well, the geniuses behind that sensational web-epic have released the soundtrack on iTunes, so now you can enjoy all the original and catchy tunes for only $9.99 and can support the revolutionary artisans that created Dr. Horrible.

Check it out: Dr. Horrible

Phil

UPDATE:
To my great chagrin, having reviewed my posts, I didn’t actually post here about Dr. Horrible! I will amend: Dr. Horrible is an aspiring super-villain who blogs about his infamous exploits. His alter-ego is shy Billy who has a crush on his laundry buddy, Penny. His nemesis is the smarmy Captain Hammer. And, they all SING! It is hilarious, poignant, and rollicking good fun! Written, directed, and totally done by Joss Whedon and his brothers…this revolutionary web mini-series was the brainchild of the writer’s strike and is completely independent of any major film studio…and was the number one downloaded TV show from iTunes for 5 weeks running, and the soundtrack is on its way to #1 downloaded album! (The TV show is $4 download from iTunes).

It really is worth watching.
Check it out.

“The Die Is Cast…” – Bootstrap Bill Turner

“You know, for having such a bleak outlook on pirates you are well on your way to becoming one: sprung a man from jail, commandeered a ship of the fleet, sailed with a buccaneer crew out of Tortuga, and you’re completely obsessed with treasure.” - Captain Jack Sparrow on Will Turner

His father is undead, trapped into an eternity of service aboard the Flying Dutchman. His betrothed wife is living under sentence of death. His closest friend is a lying pirate, and he is a blacksmith.

He is alone on this continent, sent to America by his mother. He has had a hard life at the bottom of a harsh social structure. He commandeered a ship of the King’s navy, and sailed as a bucchaneer aboard the terrifying Black Pearl. He seeks only to live as a good man.

Will Turner has a path before him that is both terrifying and thrilling. He watched his friend Captain Jack Sparrow walk into the grip of the Kracken, and before that he watched his fiance kiss said Sparrow. Where does her heart lie? He is tortured and in agony.

His father swore his life to the cruel Davy Jones to save his son, but Will swore to undo that fate. He was left by his father, abondoned in England, but he vowed to rise above his father’s legacy and not leave him bound forever.

Jack, though a liar and a self-centred pirate, though he may be stealing the heart of the woman he loves, is still Will’s closest friend. It was Jack that saved him from Barbossa’s evil hand, it was Jack that helped him save his true love. Jack has been there, and Jack is not unloyal. But now Jack is lost.

His true love, Elizabeth, is a woman of passion. She truly loves Will, or does she? She seems attracted to the rogue called Sparrow, and has kissed him. What does that mean? She lied to Will once before, about his origin. Is she lying now? He cannot be sure.

“For too long I’ve been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I’ve been starving to death and haven’t died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea. Nor the warmth of a woman’s flesh.” – Captain Barbossa

“Not just the Spanish Main, luv. The entire ocean. The entire wo’ld. Wherever we want to go, we’ll go. That’s what a ship is, you know. It’s not just a keel and a hull and a deck and sails, that’s what a ship needs but what a ship is… what the Black Pearl really is… is freedom.”

“One word love; curiosity. You long for freedom. You long to do what you want to do because you want it. To act on selfish impulse. You want to see what it’s like. One day you wont be able to resist.” – Captain Jack Sparrow

“Let no joyful voice be heard! Let no man look up at the sky with hope! And let this day be cursed by we who ready to wake… the Kraken!”

“Do you fear death? Do you fear that dark abyss? All your deeds laid bare? All your sins punished? I can offer you an escape…” Davy Jones

“My story? My story is the same as yours just one chapter behind. I chased a man across the seven seas. The pursuit cost me my crew, my commission, and my life.” – former Commodore Norrington

The world already seems less bright, and Will Turner is unsure of his place in it.

“Are ye willing to sail to de ends of de Earth and beyond to fetch back wicked Jack?” – Tia Dalma

This questions haunts the soul of young William as he agrees to a final voyage and hopeless quest….

…the journey and battle of Will Turner through the Curse of the Black Pearl and the adventure of the Dead Man’s Chest to the final culmination At World’s End, along with the legends told of the Pirates of the Caribbean has captured the imaginations of many….
